Photoshop Fakes

Most of y’all know I have been a professional photographer for over 20 years. It pains me to see obviously Photoshopped images that someone creates for propaganda just to divide people and create false news/ideas. But hey, if you see it on the internet, it must be true, right?

This was my first attempt at one like this. You can call her Lori Jane. LOL. I’m not an expert in this type of manipulation and I only worked on it about 5 minutes. If a pro at this had it for 5 minutes, you would not be able to tell the difference.

My point is, with the right tools you can change what people think they see. Here are a few more examples taken directly from my portfolio.

In the image below it appears a baby is laying alone on a narrow surface. But as you can see, Mommy Megan and I are actually holding on to the baby to keep him safe. We are then edited out of the image.

We call this the Shelf Sitter pose. It appears that baby Wyatt is sitting precariously on a shelf. Spoiler alert – he’s lying down!

This is one of the most requested poses we would get from new moms. It appears that new born Miss Kailey is in a crochet bag hanging from a branch. But it’s really a composite of two photos – one of the bag hanging on the branch and another of me holding her in a reclined position in the bag, then editing them together.

How about the crazy Head Swap? When photographing groups – especially those with small children – it can be nearly impossible to get everyone looking where they are supposed to, while looking happy and not aggravating one another. So sometimes you get shots like these below of the Lamkin kids. The best image of each child is in a different shot. By combining the two images, I now have the “perfect” portrait.

The moral of the story is that you shouldn’t believe everything you see on the internet. Images can be manipulated in a multitude of ways for a variety of reasons. So the next time you see an image that just seems a little too perfect to be true – it probably isn’t.

Namaste, y’all

Lori, Blissful Granny

P.S. I would love to have your feedback! Please leave a comment.
